Rob Beachy, Chief Technology Officer at Axiom was the presenter for the Society of Concurrent Product Development (SCPD) webinar on August 5th, 2016, hosted by Fissure Simulation Consulting. Rob’s topic was High-Performance Teams and their essentiality to Concurrent Product Development success. The webinar provided insight into how high-performance teams establish the following elements to make concurrent product development and concurrent engineering successful:
- Establishing goals, objectives and process/project management
- Defining roles and responsibilities
- Identifying and dealing with barrier
- Managing interpersonal relationships
The webinar was attended by a versatile mix of individual from large organizations, government and smaller consulting firms. Most were from the Twin Cities. There was good conversation surrounding behavioral styles and how to utilize them within high-performance teams, serving as a coaching and awareness activity. There were also helpful suggestions on how to work with “analyticals” who feel the need to engage more deeply than necessary within the scope of a project. Overall, the webinar provided a great opportunity to learn about teamwork and engage within an intelligent peer network and brainstorm ideas to discover successful methods and strategies of concurrent product development and concurrent engineering.
